VETERINARY AND ANIMAL HUSBANDRY DEPARTMENT
The Animal Husbandry Department in Jangaon District main objectives are health care of livestock, Diseases Investigation and Prevention and Control of certain infectious & contagious diseases.Feed and Fodder Development so as to increase the availability of quality nutrition to the existing stock to increase their productivity. Breed improvement programme through cross breeding and up grading to increase the genetic potential of livestock for increased production. Implementation of various poverty alleviation programmes of Animal Husbandry Department of State and Central Governments.
Organisational Structure of the Department
The entire district is covered with (12) Revenue Mandals, the Head of the District is District Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Officer, Jangaon is consisting with (4) Area Veterinary Hospitals, (23) Primary Veterinary Centers, (20) Sub Centers (Animal Health) and (3) Mobile Veterinary Centers (1962) are functioning. The department is providing services i.e., treatment to ailing animals, Deworming, Seasonal Vaccinations like HS,BQ,ET and PPR, Castrations, Artificial Insemination and Calves born, development of perennial fodder plots.

DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES
- The Government has launched the Sheep Rearing Development programme in the district dated: 20.06.2017.sheep units have grounded to the 194 sheep societies consisting with 21,000 members.Each unit means 20 Sheep + 1 Ram in worth of Rs.1,75,000/- on 75% distributed to the Golla and Kuruma communities for strengthening of the economical status.
- The Government has launched the Milch animals Distribution Programme in the District on 75% subsidy to SC and ST beneficiaries and 50% subsidy for others an amount of Rs.80,000/- per each unit with (3) years insurance.
- The Government of India has launched Artificial Insemination programme, 161 villages have selected for this programme, each village target is 100 animals for conducting free Artificial Insemination programme, animals were artificial inseminated through Veterinary staff and Gopalamithras under Krushi Kalyan Abhiyan Programme.
- The Applications of Dairy farmers submitted to the different Bank Managers for sanction of Kissan Credit Cards through Vijaya and Mulkanoor Dairies.
- 00 Mts of PC 23,Cowpea Fodder seed distributed to the farmers on 75% subsidy.The fodder seed is available in all Veterinary Institutions on Government subsidy.
- Chaff Cutters were distributed to the farmers, where half Chaff cutters to SC and half to others on 10000 subsidy each cost is Rs.25,800/- with an outlay of Rs.4,10,800/-.
